Astro-Physics 6” f/8 Triplet Apochromat Refractor
The GNTO Committee is offering an Astro-Physics 6” f/8 Triplet Apochromat Refractor for sale. We have verified the Serial #608133 of the objective lens with Astro-Physics. They report that the 6” f/8 refractor with this serial number was sent for coating in 1987 and likely shipped in late 1987. This telescope served as the first telescope used in the GNTO Imaging Dome.
The objective lens is a 3 element, silicon oil-spaced apochromat. It has a single layer coating of hard magnesium fluoride (450-650mm). Light transmission is 96.5% over the visible spectrum. The tube is aluminum, white, epoxy paint, and fully baffled with a 10” dew cap. The focuser is a 2.5” helical rack & pinion with 4.5” travel. The tube is 7” in diameter, 45” long, and weights 19 lbs.
