School Star PartiesTAAS has a program that brings exciting science to the classroom with star parties at local schools throughout the school year. With our own portable planetarium, a field of superb telescopes, and classroom activities, including our Fab Fifty presentation, school star parties are always a big hit with students, parents, and teachers alike. We Know How to Make Learning Fun For Kids
Our state-of-the-art digital planetarium is a great way to bring the stars to your school even in cloudy weather. It seats up to 40 students and we hold multiple sessions throughout the evening. Inside the portable planetarium, a TAAS presenter delights visitors with a visual tour of the well-known constellations and their mythology.
In the classroom, a TAAS member presents what we call Fab Fifty, a general orientation to the seasonal night sky, identifying objects that students may observe through the telescopes that night and offering descriptions of those objects.
Last but not least, of course, are the telescopes! No star party would be complete without our cadre of volunteers bringing their personal equipment to your school to delight everyone with the celestial sights.
